National Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is recognized on the fourth Thursday in April each year.  This annual event is an educational program in the United States and Canada where parents take their children to work with them for one day so that their children can learn about their parent’s occupations. This year Filter Pump Industries had 3 participants from two families. The children ranged in age from 10 to 6 years of age.

Each child who participated was excused for the day from their regular school attendance. Prior to the event, the children presented permission slips from their local schools to their parents.  The parents then presented the slips to their company supervisors for approval.

As you can see, there was not only learning to be had, we also had a lot of fun! Briana, Brennan, and Humberto learned what a typical work day looks like for each of their parents, and had the chance to see what life could be like after they finish their education.

The visiting children learn about safety and quality control in the production area. This is where the magic happens at Filter Pump Industries!

In the picture above, the children had the opportunity to see the most exciting part of our office, the production area where all of our products are made. Here they learned about all that goes in to making a top quality filter pump, and how our team must apply their past education in order to do their job correctly. Visiting our on-site production room helped the children learn why classes like math and science are so important, and see firsthand that what they learn in school can be applied to life outside the classroom.

All in all, it was a successful day! Having the opportunity to teach children about the possibilities that are available after finishing their education was a great honor. In addition, the children were able to see what a typical day is like for their parents, which was a great family bonding experience for those who participated. We can’t wait for next year’s visit!
